Police are seeking information following two incidents of graffiti to murals in Bridport.

As reported by Nub News, a 133-metre mural was unveiled outside Bridport Football Club, making it the longest in the UK. The youth-led project was supported by Bridport Arts Centre, with funding from Bridport Town Council and Dorset Council.

Dorset Police received a report that overnight on Monday 1st August, the new mural installed in July 2022 by local artists and students at Bridport Football Club was defaced with a large graffiti 'tag'.

A second report was received that overnight on Wednesday 3rd August an existing mural, also funded by the Bridport Town Council and installed by community artists and young people, on the northern wall of Bridport Football Club had been similarly defaced with a large graffiti 'tag'.

Police Constable Kirsti Frecknall, of West Dorset police, commented: "We are carrying out enquiries into this graffiti, and believe that this may be linked to similar graffiti that has also been reported in the Lyme Regis and Charmouth areas. I would urge anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police on their website, via email on [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220128130. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
