Crime figures for the Bridport area in 2022 have been released

The wider Bridport area saw a total of 1,833 crimes reported in 2022, according to the police.uk website.

This was a slight increase on the previous year, which saw 1,818 incidents reported. The peak of crime was in July 2022, which saw 196 incidents reported.

Monthly crime figures for 2022 were as follows:

  • December - 110
  • November - 121
  • October - 160
  • September - 136
  • August - 173
  • July - 196
  • June - 156
  • May - 177
  • April - 171
  • March - 174
  • February - 134
  • January - 125

In the wider Bridport policing area, there were 110 reported crimes in December 2022 – the latest month figures are available for on police.uk

This area covers from Lyme Regis in the west, to West Bexington in the east, and as far north as Thorncombe in the west, and Hermitage in the east. 

The figure for December 2022 compares to 121 crimes reported the previous month (November 2022), and 114 reported in the same month the previous year (December 2021).

In the immediate Bridport area, there were 66 crimes reported in December 2022.

These included 34 listed as violence and sexual offences, 13 incidents of anti-social behaviour, eight of criminal damage and arson, and 11 listed as 'other crime'. 

This compares to 63 crimes reported in the immediate Bridport area in November 2022, and 71 in December 2021. 

Beaminster and Broadwindsor saw 18 crimes reported in December 2022, including five thefts, seven incidents of violence and sexual offences, four of anti-social behaviour, and two 'other crime'.
