Bridport: Find out the impact single use plastic has on our seas with West Bay Discovery Centre

West Bay Discovery Centre is highlighting the impact of single use plastic packaging on our seas.

Its Turning the Tide exhibition - which is on at the centre from now until the end of October - explores the timeline of how plastic developed and has been used and highlights problems associated with the single-use plastics that are now widely used in packaging.

Visitors are invited to learn how they can help in the fight to curb the ever-increasing amounts of microplastics in our oceans.

The exhibition includes an interpretation of J.W Turner's famous painting of West Bay, cleverly created by those at Bridport Community Shed using litter found on the beach.

It also features the story of the 'very hungry shark' and young visitors at the centre are invited to choose how the shark's story ends.

The exhibition has been produced with help from Litter Free Dorset, the West Bay Beach Cleans group, 5 things Clear and Plastic Free Bridport. It includes contributions from the children at St Mary's Primary School.

Events linked to the exhibition are also being planned - keep up-to-date with West Bay Discovery Centre's Facebook page or at westbaydiscoverycentre.org.uk

The discovery centre is open from 11am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and admission is free, although donations are welcomed.
