A member of Bridport charity, The Living Tree, will be taking on a coastal walk after battling bowel cancer.

Martyn Allen will be embarking on a seven-day coastal loop around the Isle of Wight from July 9 to 16.

He will be walking the 70-mile coast path over seven days, with all funds raised going to Bowel Cancer UK.

Martyn said: "Seven years after surgery for bowel cancer, I will be taking the ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth and walking in a clockwise direction around the island.

"I will average 10 miles per day over seven days and raise awareness about bowel cancer, which is very treatable with early diagnosis.

"All proceeds to Bowel Cancer UK. I have a Just Giving page where people can donate and follow my progress. There will also be a form at The Living Tree Friday drop-in at the Meeting House in South Street."

The Living Tree is a self-help support group for people who have experienced cancer and for their families/carers.
