The Great Big Green Week

Bridport residents are being encouraged to take part in a campaign to highlight the need for urgent action on climate and nature ahead of the United Nations climate talks later this year.

The Great Big Green Week, taking place from September 18 to 26, aims to draw attention to climate change, while also making a connection with these issues in communities.

In Bridport, West Dorset Friends of the Earth will be holding a gathering on the Millennium Green on Saturday, September 18 from 10am. There will be stalls, short speeches and a proclamation read out by the mayor.

Bridport Tree Planting will also be holding a parent and child tree walk and quiz on Friday, September 24 at 5pm in Millennium Green.

Dorset Climate Action Network is organising an event to showcase ways of living more sustainably and is looking for people who are willing to invite visitors into their homes or gardens to talk about ways we can lower our carbon footprint. To contact the group, visit dorsetcan.org

All local people and organisations are invited to host events, including schools, churches, councils, clubs, workplaces and community groups. It can be a party, walk, concert, community stall, climate café or anything else. Once a time and place is known, organisers should email [email protected] so it can be added to the list of events for the local area.

The Great Big Green Week is being organised by The Climate Coalition, a group of people dedicated to action against climate change, whose members include the National Trust, WWF, Women's Institute, Oxfam and RSPB.
