Covid-19 cases remain high across Dorset.

Public Health Dorset reports that there are 1,166 confirmed cases in the last seven days in the Dorset Council area, compared to 1,151 on August 13, and 1614 in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council area.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 of the population in the Dorset Council area is 307, compared to 303.1 on August 13, and 406.6 in the BCP Council area, compared to 482.4 on August 13.

There are currently 41 people with Covid-19 in hospital beds in Dorset.

A spokesman for Public Health Dorset said: "In line with the national picture, Covid-19 case rates remain high across the county. Case rates in the BCP Council area have decreased, although they remain higher than the averages for England and the South West. Dorset Council's case rate has stayed relatively stable over the past couple of weeks and it remains at a similar level to the England average.

"We can see that vaccinations are having a significant impact on preventing serious illness and stopping many people from needing hospital treatment, as hospitalisations remain much lower than at similar points during previous waves.

"Anyone who hasn't yet had their Covid-19 vaccine can still take up the offer, there are plenty of options available with appointments and walk-in clinics located across the county.
