The Ivy House Kitchen at Groves Nurseries has had to close after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

It's hoped the restaurant will be able to reopen on Tuesday, June 22.

Announcing the news, managing director Charlie Groves said: "I received the news that any employer dreads that one of the team in Ivy House has tested positive for Covid-19.

"Whilst we do adhere to all social distancing guidelines, the practicalities of operating in a catering environment mean that the team do regularly come into contact with each other.

"Following government guidelines and for the safety of everyone, all colleagues who have been in contact with this person for the two days before symptoms developed are now self-isolating.

"Unfortunately, this does mean that it will not be possible to open Ivy House until the advised period of isolation is over and we are able to get a team back together capable of delivering the service you have come to expect. We anticipate this being Tuesday, June 22, but of course this may change depending on how the situation develops.

"The affected team member did everything correctly and called in sick as soon as symptoms became apparent so has not been in work whilst symptomatic.

"The team have all taken lateral flow tests, all of which have come back negative.

"I would also like to point out that the restaurant team operate strictly in their own bubble and that garden centre staff are kept separate and will be tested regularly as a precautionary measure.

"Of course, we will also be co-operating fully with NHS Test and Trace which will be contacting anyone that they feel necessary to contact.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and understanding during this difficult time and we look forward to getting back up and running again soon."
