West Bay was full of Simon Jordan's friends and family on Sunday, dedicated to keep his legacy alive with a mass litter pick.

Simon, who founded 5ThingsClear, died on Saturday, December 18.

He organised regular beach cleans at West Bay and in honour of this, around 130 people took to the beach and cleared more than 115kg of litter.

Roy Beal of Clean Jurassic Coast, who helped organise the event, said: "What a phenomenal turn out. Roughly 130 fabulous people turned up to beach clean and litter pick in memory of Simon Jordan.

"Thank you to Sara from Bay Paddle Boarding for helping to organise this, as well as Sarah and John from the West Bay Discovery Centre, Caroline Pearce, Barbara and many others who helped with the bags. Thank you to Sophie from Litter Free Coast and Sea for helping too. Debbie Broadhurst, Cheryl Ludgate, Plastic Free Dorchester Paul, Ian the town mayor and Tilda, Jools and Jane from Weymouth and Portland Marine Litter Project CIC and Natasha Hope, Amanda and Gary from Clean Up Dorset Squad, as well as the CJC team who were out in force, Zoe Hughes, Hannah Cadec, Lee Roy Cooper, Louis Pulford, Gordon and of course my Sarah and Oggy. The list is endless.

"The end result of this very emotional day was a grand clear up of West Bay that amounted to a rather brilliant 115.2kg. That was worth every tear and I have no doubt a rather chuffed Simon was smiling down upon everyone - I'm pretty sure he kept the rain away too.

"Last thank you goes to The Watch House for supplying everyone with mulled cider or fruit punch. Thank you.

"See you January 16, same time and place where Bay Paddle Boarding and Clean Jurassic Coast will continue Simon's 5ThingsClear legacy."

A spokesman for The Watch House added: "Lovely tribute to Simon. A local hero that kept our beaches clean. What a fitting way to remember such a man. Thank you to the friends of Simon for showing up."
