Bridport and Beaminster fire crews respond to Travis Perkins after smoke seen coming from building

Two fire crews were sent to Travis Perkins in Bridport after multiple calls reporting smoke coming from the building.

Both Bridport fire engines and a crew from Beaminster Fire Station were sent to Sea Road North just before 6pm on Saturday (October 9).

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "On scene, the incident commander was met by a key holder to the property who explained a security system had accidentally triggered causing a smoke cloak to activate. These are designed to fill a building with high value items up with synthetic smoke to stop any intruders."
