It has been a very different and strange year for everybody, but especially for members of Bridport Pantomime Players who have not been able to perform or enjoy their normal events.

But the group did put their talents to good use during the pandemic to cheer up the community when they were locked down, something they will be continuing over the festive season.

Alice Tuck, a member of Bridport Pantomime Players, said: "We have been posting videos online via Facebook over the last few months, so as to lift the spirits of our followers and the local community.

"This has allowed us to still be collaboratively creative as we cannot rehearse for an upcoming show, with our annual pantomime being cancelled in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic."

Members have sung renditions of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' and Dame Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again', as well as lip-syncing to The Jacksons' 'Blame It On The Boogie', Michael Jackson's 'Thriller', Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now', The Rocky Horror Picture Show's 'The Time Warp', an ABBA medley and Grease mix.

They are now moving their focus to Christmas songs.

Alice added: "At this time of year, we would usually be visiting local care homes to perform Christmas carols and entertain residents, however, as this can't happen this year, we have been busy behind the scenes recording Christmas songs, which we will deliver to the homes we would usually visit in the next few weeks so as to still bring them some Christmas cheer.

"We have a selection of songs: 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas', 'The Twelve Days Of Christmas', 'It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year', 'Where Did My Snowman Go?' 'We Need A Little Christmas', as well as lip-syncing to Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas'. A few solo performances by cast members and their children, with a few Christmas-themed poems and ditties have been thrown in for good measure.

"We are just in the final edit and we will be burning a DVD this week to deliver to the homes next week."
