An outbuilding at a Walditch property could be converted to an annexe, workshop and 'car barn'.

The owners of Cherrywood Farm at Bonscombe Hill Lane has asked Dorset Council to approve a planning request for the changes.

The application says that, although detached, the building is intended to provide an annexe which will share facilities such as garden and parking space with the main dwelling.

The annexe is intended for the applicant's son and daughter in law who currently live in another building attached to Cherrywood Farm.

The farmhouse is due to be demolished and replaced with a new home following the granting of planning permission in February 2022.

A report to the council on the condition of the outbuilding, mainly used as a workshop and for storage, says: "Subject to localised repair and strengthening, the building is suitable to be converted … The scheme of conversion is sympathetic and largely makes use of existing openings to retain the building's simple character and appearance, continuing its contribution to local character."

Bothenhampton and Walditch Parish Council says it has no objection to the conversion proposals and believes it complies with local planning policies.
