Calling all musicians, choirs, groups and more - Bridport Musicathon is back.

The musical fundraiser will return to town on Saturday, June 11.

A spokesman for the event said: "After a break of two years due to the pandemic, this year's Musicathon will take place as usual in the Bridport United Church between 9am and 5pm on Saturday, June 11.

"The event format is similar to previous years with individuals and groups being sponsored by relatives and friends to perform their choice of music to a public audience during a 15-minute slot.

"The charities chosen to share in the money raised this year are the Richard Ely Trust for Young Musicians and Weldmar Hospicecare, which were to be our beneficiaries in 2020 before the pandemic caused us to cancel the event.

"We are looking forward to a very enjoyable and exciting event this year and hopefully raising lots of funds once more."

There will also be a performance stage, mainly for young musicians, in Bucky Doo Square between 10am and 12.30pm, with slot lengths likely to be 30 minutes but this will depend on how many musicians want to perform and their set length.

Members of groups wanting to perform are asked to raise individual sponsorship to help raise as much money as possible for the charities.

There will be a coffee morning at the United Church until midday with volunteers serving light lunches and other refreshments in the hall from 12noon and throughout the afternoon, with profits going to Musicathon. Help with serving refreshments would be appreciated, as would offers of cake.

A bric-a-brac stall in Bucky Doo will also be raising money from 10am to 12.30pm, co-ordinated by Roz Copson. More information on donations will be available nearer the time.
