Make sure you check with your child's school when additional inset or non-pupil days are throughout the year. Parents and carers are also being reminded that the deadline for primary, infant, junior and middle school applications is fast approaching. Applications need to be made by January 15 to have the best chance of securing a place at your child's preferred school. Councillor Andrew Parry, Dorset Council portfolio holder for children, education and early help, said: "If your child is starting school for the first time this September, or is due to start junior or middle school for the first time, then you need to submit your school application now. "Please don't risk disappointment by leaving it too late. Apply now to have the best chance of securing your child's preferred school." You can find more information here.
