Three fire crews and two coastguard teams have rescued a dog who had fallen off the cliff in Eype.

A Bridport fire crew called just after 8.20am today (Thursday) to help find Max, who had fallen the day before.

The incident commander made an initial assessment and requested for technical rescue teams from Weymouth Fire Station and Poole Fire Station to attend. Due to the nature and location of the incident, West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team and Lyme Regis Coastguard were also sent.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "With the use of a drone being used by the pet owner's friend, Max was located.

"Fire crews descended the cliff and rescued Max, who was unharmed. With the use of the coastguard's animal retrieval bag and winch, fire crews and Max were retrieved from the cliff.

"This was a great opportunity to work in collaboration with coastguard teams and a top effort from all involved.

"We strongly advise to keep pets on leads when walking along our beautiful coastline. It only takes one smell or a glimpse of an animal for accidents like this to happen."
