The Bridport Town Hall Clock took on a new identity as darkness fell on Monday.

As the daylight disappeared, Union Jack's began to immerge on the four clock faces, in commemoration of our Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

With the sky fully dark the clock faces, each facing the main streets of the town, give a striking identity to Bridport's town centre.

The Union Jack's have been designed, produced and installed to the interior of the four clock faces by Paul Violet and his daughter Rebekah Violet.

Paul is an employee of Bridport Town Council, and is also the 'keeper' of the town hall clock, ensuring that it keeps good time, and is the person who sets the time for the beginning and end of British Summer Time.

Paul is also a member of the Bridport Heritage Forum, and to add to the celebrations over the bank holiday, further members of the forum, Andy Violet, Fiona Ward and Tracey Dunford-Violet have dressed the windows of the Tourist Information Centre, located at the town hall with 1950s artefacts, photographs and clothes, which will bring back memories for many Bridport people, and visitors to the town, who were there when the 'New Elizabethan' era started.
