Bridport: Transformer fire cuts off electricity to homes in Walditch

Homes in Walditch are were power today (Saturday) after a transformer caught fire in the early hours of this morning.

Bridport fire crews were called just before 1.50am to a transformer smouldering in Walditch.

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "On arrival it was found a tree had fallen onto the high voltage cables and caught fire.

"Western Power were requested and once in attendance, isolated the power so crews could extinguish the fire.

"The incident was then left in the hands of Western Power."

Homes in Walditch now have power.
