The Electric Palace is the latest Bridport arts organisation to benefit from the government's Culture Recovery Fund.

It has awarded £50,000, joining Bridport Museum , which also got £50,000 and theatre company Stuff and Nonsense , which operates out of The Lyric Theatre and got £94,000.

The £1.57billion fund is to help art sector venues and organisations face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and ensure they have a sustainable future.

Culture secretary Oliver Dowden said: "This is more vital funding to protect cultural gems across the country, save jobs and prepare the arts to bounce back.

"Through Arts Council England, we are delivering the biggest ever investment in the arts in record time.

"Hundreds of millions of pounds are already making their way to thousands of organisations.

"These awards build on our commitment to be here for culture in every part of the country."
