A campaign to save a community hall in the heart of the town has raised more than £1,100 in the first seven days.

St Mary's Church House Hall in South Street faces an uncertain future after the impact of coronavirus has taken its toll on the hall's finances.

The St Mary's Church House Hall Trust has launched a Crowdfunder appeal in a bid to raise £10,000.

Steve Bartlett, chairman of the hall trustees, said: "Our Crowdfunding page is working well and I would like to thank all those folk who have already given money to support the appeal.

"We raised over £1,100 in the first seven days and I remain hopeful that we will achieve our target of £10,000 - this will help ensure that our excellent community hall will still be available for all future users."

Anyone wishing to donate can visit it the Crowdfunder page here.
