Changes at Morrisons' petrol station have received support from Bridport Town Council.

The supermarket's plans propose the demolition of the existing petrol station kiosk and car wash and construction of a new single storey kiosk building, new parking, jet wash and air/vac bays.

There will no longer be a car wash but the sales area will be much larger and there will be eight car parking spaces.

The main canopy over the forecourt and fuel pumps will be retained as will the existing vehicle entrance and exit.

Councillors also supported Morrisons' application to increase the operating times of its home delivery service to 7am until 8.45pm, seven days a week.

Councillor Dave Rickard said he would have liked to talk to residents that live close by to the store, but Covid had meant that he couldn't. It was also highlighted that due to changes happening on Dorset Council's planning portal, councillors were unable to see if there were any objections to those living close to the supermarket at the planning meeting.

Bridport Town Council agreed to be neutral, but asked that neighbour comments about possible disruption be taken into account.
