Local politicians, including parliamentary candidates, and a United Nations expert will attend a public forum to what Bridport can do in tackling the climate emergency.

The event will be held at the United Church in Bridport on Friday, August 4, starting at 7pm, to discuss effectives and ethical action which can be taken to fight climate change.

Entry costs £5 or pay whatever you can afford.

Those taking part in the discussion include two parliamentary candidates for West Dorset – Liberal Democrat Edward Morello and the Green Party's Kevin Clayton, who is currently a Dorset councillor, as well as Andrew Wyatt representing Labour.

West Dorset MP, Conservative Chris Loder, is unable to attend.

Lindsey Fielder Cook will introduce the event. She is based at the Quaker United Nations Office in Geneva, where she speaks about 'The Human Impacts of Climate Change' for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports on climate science, on which world governments rely.

Joe Burlington, a local resident who is organising the meeting with the help of Sustainable Bridpor,t commented: "Brief answers will be sought to questions like 'What do you think is truthful climate engagement?'"
