The mayor of Bridport was amongst those to commemorate the life of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh following his death on April 9.

Councillor Ian Bark and his wife, along with representatives of the armed services and local churches, joined for a small service of commemoration on Saturday, April 17 with the Rev Pete Stone and the Rev Helen Croud.

The service was held outdoors beside the Burma Star memorial. Prince Philip was a patron of the Burma Star Association and was awarded the Burma Star for serving in the Burma Campaign from 1941 to 1945 during the Second World War.

Cllr Ian Bark also attended the commemorative service at Wimborne Minister on Friday with local MPs, the lord lieutenant and High Sheriff of Dorset.
