Concerns for welfare sparks emergency response in West Bay

Emergency services were called to West Bay in the early hours of this morning (Friday) due to concerns for welfare of a man.

Dorset Police, West Bay Coastguard and South Western Ambulance Service responded to the coast.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called around 12.30am with a report raising concern for the welfare of a man who had left an address in Bridport. Officers attended and carried out searches of the area. The man was located in the West Bay area at around 1.30am and given appropriate care."

The West Bay Coastguard team were called just after 1.10am to help the police and ambulance service.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: "As officers were arriving on station, an update was received via the police that the incident had been safely resolved.

"The coastguard was stood down and the officers then returned to their beds."
