A country pub is launching 'meet the producer' events, highlighting some of the best food and drink in the area.
Chef Mark Hix will be welcoming guest producers to host a series of special dinners at The Fox Inn, Corscombe, giving customers the opportunity to meet the producers and learn about how their food and drink is made.
The series kicks off in the new year with Jason Barber, who co-founded Black Cow Vodka with his business partner Paul Archard, making vodka from milk. He will be at The Fox Inn on January 19, explaining why after 300 years of cheesemaking within the barber family, he decided to turn the whey into vodka.
This will be followed by Karen and David Richards, who cure and smoke their range of award-winning charcuterie, which will be paired with Glint & Flint's beers on February 2.
As we enter spring, mushroom hunter John Wright will be appearing at The Fox Inn on April 6. The renowned forager and author of numerous River Cottage books will bring his knowledge and new ingredients to the menu.
A cheese and wine supper will see wine writer and expert Fiona Beckett join Rob Corbett of Castlewood Vineyards and Trish Mauder of Somerset Membrillo to host an evening on June 22, celebrating British Wine Week.
Mark said: "Our menus change every day based on the local produce that has been brought into us, or new producers I have found in the area - whether that's homegrown fruit and vegetables, mushrooms from our local forager or pigs that have been reared especially for us.
"Our series of events is a great opportunity for the producer to tell their story and introduce their delicious food and drink to our guests first-hand."
The Fox Inn is also offering weekly curry club every Wednesday, which includes a starter, main and pudding. The menu can be seen here.
