Emergency services were called to West Bay last night (Tuesday) after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man on the cliffs.

Dorset Police were call at 8.30pm.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Officers attended with HM Coastguard, fire and ambulance services.

"The man was brought to safety at around 11.20pm and taken to receive the appropriate care."

Both the West Bay and Lyme Regis coastguard teams were called at around 8.45pm to help Dorset Police.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: "The incident was safely concluded just after midnight and the teams were stood down to return to station.

"Stay safe on the coast, but if you find yourself in difficulty, or if you see something that gives you cause for concern, do not hesitate, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
