Enjoy a Christmas Day walk around Seatown, Golden Cap and Langdon Woods

Christmas Day can traditionally be the time for a winter walk with the family, and one of the most popular for us here is West Bay.
This year, a walk is also a great way to see friends and family - up to six people - who you cannot celebrate Christmas with inside.
So, we have compiled a route for those who want a walk that is longer than a stroll around West Bay to have quality time with family friends, is local, but also avoids the fragile cliffs following recent falls.
Here's a loop taking in Seatown, Golden Cap and Langdon Woods, which is around three miles and takes around two hours (or longer for a leisurely stroll!)
From Seatown car park, walk up Sea Hill Lane towards Chideock and turn left onto the South West Coast Path after Golden Cap Holiday Park, following it through gorse, across a field and uphill with the sea on your left.
After emerging from scrub into open ground, fork left and carry on along the coast path which crosses to the left-hand corner at the top of this open group and starts climbing towards Golden Cap.
Follow the path up to the top of Golden Cap.
Take the steps with the rope handrail down to Langdon Hill and woods and follow the path.
Once on the path in Langdon Woods, go either left or right to walk the circular route around the base of the hill, completing a whole loop and returning to where you started.
Take the path back towards Golden Cap but turn left, rather than right into the field you came down from Golden Cap.
Follow the path with Langdon Woods on your left until it becomes Pettycrate Lane - a green path - and carry on straight, ignoring the left turn.
Stay on the lane and bear right at another left turn with Langdon Lane and follow it until its junction with Sea Hill Lane.
Turn right as it drops into Seatown and return to the car park on your left.
This walk can be quite strenuous in parts and is not suitable for those with mobility problems.
For a shorter, flatter walk, try just a loop of Langdon Woods from the National Trust Langdon car park.
Please be aware of beauty spot thefts and do not leave any valuables in your car.
Share your photos with us if you enjoy the walk!
