Fancy enjoying some local gin made from Groves Nurseries' National Collection of violets?

Mr Groves has been busy distilling another batch of his famous Violet Gin.

Heading down to Devon Distillery based in Dartington, Mr Groves took his harvest of dried violet leaves and flowers with him from the collection of violets that he is the curator of.

Devon Distillery's head of operation, Kate Le Maux, helped Mr Groves with the secret recipe where the leaves add a subtle violet flavour and the flowers a hint of colour and are all expertly blended by Kate.

If you grew up with a dislike to the soapy Parma Violet flavour sweets, don't be put off. This gin only has an understated hint of violet that adds to the clean, smooth taste of the gin.

The violets were grown in the Bridport nursery and are from the sweet violet, Viola odorata rather than the more pungent Parma violets.

Mr Groves' Violet Gin is available to purchase in a new 35cl bottle, as well as the original 70cl bottle from the garden centre in Bridport. You can also try the gin with tonic at the Ivy House Kitchen at Groves Nurseries.
