Environment Agency to investigate if reprofiling works needed at West Bay after stormy weather

Following the stormy weather at the weekend, West Bay's East Beach has become more level.

A steep ledge formed in the sand in February 2020 after Storm Ciara. This follows flood defence works in 2019, which included a buried rock core which built up East Beach.

Environment Agency staff were at West Bay yesterday (Monday) and will advise if any repair or reprofiling will be required.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "The Environment Agency responded to high waves creating a risk of flooding in West Bay this weekend.

"There was some overtopping of the flood defences at The Esplanade due to the power of the waves but no reports of property flooding."
