Three hundred solar panels could be installed at a holiday park near Bridport.

Dorset Council is being asked to grant planning consent for the ground-mounted panels at the Highlands End Holiday Park in Eype.

The panels will cover an area of 950 square metres – set lower in the field than a previous application which was refused because of their likely impact on the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The panels, on 15 galvanised steel 'tables', should create up to 198kW of power – enough for the existing caravans, buildings and car charging points.

Any surplus will be used to heat the park's swimming pool, with the remainder exported to the National Grid.

In its application to Dorset Council, the company said that the panels were part of its aim of achieving net zero carbon status which, in turn, will make the business more financially viable.

Full details of the application can be seen on the Dorset Council planning online site – reference 2023/00384 with public comments on the proposals remaining open until March 3.
