As schools break up for the summer holidays, Bridport Primary School is saying goodbye to three long-standing members of staff.

'Local legends' Izy Forsey, Mike Gale and Debbie Gale have given an impressive 100 years' service to the school between them but are now retiring.

Izy started at the school as a lunchtime assistant, becoming a teaching assistant who supported many children through the ages. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time, particularly opportunities for dressing up - Santa will have one less elf this Christmas at the school fete.

She said: "I am incredibly proud of my time here at Bridport Primary. The team has always been there to support me and made it a very special place."

Debbie has been a higher-level teaching assistant, particularly known for her fantastic sports teaching and covering for staff wherever needed. She has been a hard-working and committed member of the team who also ran the breakfast club.

Mike has been a caretaker at Bridport Primary School, quietly fixing, building and constructing behind the scenes, and also working with children. The school will surely miss his skills and dedication.

"It's hard to leave a job you love," said Debbie, "but we are looking forward to spending more time with family."

The trio enjoyed a barbecue and special assembly as part of their retirement celebrations, welcoming back faces from the past and being treated to some wonderful contributions from staff and children.

A spokesman said: "Bridport Primary will miss these outstanding individuals, we wish them a restful and happy retirement, filled with family and a slower pace of life."
