Changes have been agreed to a planning consent for safari-style 'glamping' tents at the West Bay Holiday Park.
Parkdean Resorts had been given planning permission to use its existing caravan touring field, north of the site of the Old Dairy, to offer 21 glamping tents in July last year.
A new application, agreed by Dorset Council, will now allow for eight of the pitches to be replaced with glamping pods.
"It is considered that the glamping pods will further expand the range of accommodation types the Holiday Park can provide and gives the local tourism economy and greater longevity and stainability," said a letter from the operators requesting the change.
The pods will take up the same space as the tents would have done.
The holiday company says it is making the changes to meet market demand: "to keep up with the current holidaying trends in the South West. The current demand being an increase in the frequency of short breaks in the UK taken throughout the year, as opposed to a couple of week-long holidays a year."
