Bridport mayor outlines 30 simple New Year's resolutions

The mayor of Bridport has set out a list of simple New Year's resolutions and is urging residents not to be too hard on themselves.

Councillor Ian Bark has been reflecting on 2021 and the year ahead, with 2022 "an opportunity to take stock and reset".

He has come up with 30 New Year's resolution ideas for 2022:

  1. Go to bed on time
  2. Learn to budget
  3. Eat healthier most days
  4. Learn something new every day
  5. Walk once a day, every day
  6. Make new connections at work and in your personal life
  7. Say thank you every day
  8. Laugh out loud at least once a day
  9. Take calculated risks
  10. Learn to cook a new meal once a week
  11. Read more
  12. Practice mindfulness
  13. Learn to invest in yourself
  14. Drink less alcohol
  15. Quit smoking
  16. Take the stairs (almost) every time
  17. Get a plant
  18. Go on holiday
  19. Drink more water
  20. Write a diary
  21. Do one thing you've always wanted to do
  22. Volunteer
  23. Delegate more
  24. Go clutter free
  25. Shop local
  26. Listen to music every day
  27. Hug your loved ones more
  28. Compliment yourself
  29. Reduce negative influences in your life
  30. Lower your plastic usage
Cllr Bark said: "The New Year's resolutions I will be focusing on in 2022 are numbers 3, 9, 25 and 30. "Whatever plans and goals you set yourself, I wish you success with them, but remember, it's your life. "Decide what you want to do or achieve in 2022, plan how to get there and go for it. I'll definitely be cheering you on. "May whatever your hopes and dreams for 2022 come true." To read his blog entry, visit Bridport-tc.gov.uk Don't forget to sign up to our newsletter below!
