Golden Cap route voted as one of the best walks in the UK
West Dorset's Golden Cap has been named as one of the best walks in the UK.
National consumer experts Which? Recently curated a list of 51 of the nation's favourite and most well-trodden, single-day walks.
The survey was carried out by 1,807 Which? Panel members in December 2021.
The three-mile walk was given a two out of five for difficulty and received two stars for both accessibility and food and drink. It was awarded three stars for places of interest, waymarking, wildlife and facilities and four stars for peace and quiet and scenery. It was given a walk score - overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the walk - of 78 per cent.
A second Dorset walk was also included - a 10-mile Old Harry Rocks circuit. It was also given a two out of five for difficulty.
It was awarded three stars for accessibility, peace and quiet, waymarking and visitor facilities, four stars for food and drink, places of interest and wildlife, and five stars for scenery. Its walk score is 83 per cent.
The Lake District proved the most popular region for high quality walks, claiming six spots in the table. The Peak District, Cornwall and Northumberland each boast three of the best walks, while Snowdonia, London, Surrey and the North York Moors join Dorset with two each.
