Ivy house has finally opened indoors again after months of being closed.

The iconic restaurant based in Groves garden centre, has been open outdoors only since April 12 but being able to open indoors will make life a lot easier for the team working there and more comfortable for the customers.

Opened in 2018, the Ivy House is named after the building in Piddletrenthide in which Groves Nurseries was first established in 1866. Like all hospitality it has been a very difficult 12 months but hopefully there is now some light at the end of the tunnel.

Manager of Groves Nurseries Charlie Groves said: "It's been a very difficult time. We've had to make some really difficult decisions about the how to get through the last year and ensure its feasibility going forward.

"It's great to be able to properly open indoors again. We have been lucky enough to be able to open outdoors since April 12 but with the weather turning not so nice for the last few weeks it has made life difficult.

"We still have a tricky few months ahead. We need to keep everyone safe so we aren't up to full capacity yet but things seem to be moving in the right direction.

"We are lucky enough to have very loyal customers who have returned to visiting us on a regular basis, which I am extremely grateful to."

As a result of the restrictions Ivy House moved to table service last year and during the last closure invested in new till system to ensure service is as efficient as possible.

Ivy House already has enquiries for Christmas parties and the team is looking hosting some of the events for the Bridport Folk Festival in the summer.

Even though service is now indoors the light and airy nature of the building means it's the perfect place for meeting up with friends and family for breakfast or lunch or even a traditional Sunday roast. For those customers who prefer to sit outside Ivy House, has ample outdoor seating as well as takeaway options from The Cabin.

The Cabin opened in summer last year and serves sandwiches, teas, coffees, homemade cakes as well as Baboo Ice cream. It's the perfect place to order a quick snack to eat by the pond or take away.
