Four organisations in Bridport were the lucky recipients of Groves Nurseries' Christmas tree giveaway.

The garden centre usually gives away two but had others also wanting to support the cause.

The winners were Harbour House, Sidney Gale, Bridport Ambulance Station and Colmers Ward at Bridport Hospital.

Charlie Groves said: "It was fantastic to be able to give away so many trees.

"Little Groves gave away one tree to St Mary's Academy in Beaminster and big Groves was originally going to give away two trees. Then Andy Violet from JD Cleaning got in touch saying that he would also like to purchase a tree to donate.

"When I posted this on Facebook, Amy from the George Inn at Chideock also said she would like to donate a tree.

"I would hate to have to choose who gets the tree so I left it very much up to a random choice of places to receive the tree from the hundreds of suggestions that came in through our Facebook page.

"We receive such great support with our Christmas tree sales from the local community that it's great to be able to give something back to such amazing local organisations."
