Coastguards were called after a woman was trapped by the tide near to the cliff fall at Burton Bradstock.

The team was alerted on Tuesday just after 3.30pm by the Solent Coastguard National Maritime Operations Centre after reports from the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) lookout at Burton Bradstock Beach.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard said: "As officers were responding to the station in West Bay, an update was received reporting that the casualty had found their way to safety and the team was stood down.

"Stay safe on the coast over the festive period.

"But if you find yourself in difficulty or if you are concerned for others, do not hesitate, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
