Bridport Carnival Week came to a spectacular close with two processions over the weekend.
Huge crowds lined the streets in Bridport town centre on Saturday night for the annual carnival procession, described as the best seen in recent years.
Local clubs, organisations, businesses and families dressed up and decorated floats and walking entries in the procession, with Bridport Round Table's Avatar style entry being judged the best overall.
The procession was led by the Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Dave Bolwell, and mayoress Bridget in an open top car, followed by Bridport Carnival royal party, who had been officially crowned earlier in the year – princess Millie Frampton, age 13, and attendants Delilah Rayner, 11, and Ava Hook, 9.
The carnival also saw World Cup fever sweep across Bridport ahead of England playing in the final against Spain on Sunday morning, with the marching band leading the procession stopping outside the town hall to play the football anthem 'Three Lions' and Bridport Youth Football Club rousing the biggest cheers of the night with their flags that read 'Come On Lionesses'.
On Sunday evening, the crowds were out in force once again for the annual torchlight procession, which saw hundreds carry torches from the town centre to West Bay, where the week of events was concluded with a spectacular firework display.
