It is not the end of Moores' famous Dorset Knob biscuits as the company decides to shut its shop and bakery in Morcombelake.

The company is one of Britain's longer-established biscuit makers after being established on the site in 1880.

Moores announced that after the retirement of its shopkeeper it would be closing the building and moving online, as well as opening a tiny shop at its Bridport base in time for Easter.

A spokesman for Moores said: "After many years of retailing from our shop at Morcombelake we have decided, following the retirement of our shopkeeper, to close the Morcombelake site.

"The last few years have seen a decline in our shop sales other than for the fresh bakery offer and, as retailing moves more and more to online, we have to move with the times.

"To this end we intend to develop a webshop, fulfilling orders from our Bridport bakery.

"As an adjunct to this 'e-tail' operation, we intend to open a tiny shop at the front of our building at 202 St Andrew's Road in Bridport, selling our own products and a limited range of local and unusual foods.

"We aim to have this up and running by Easter and look forward to welcoming you there."
