Jess Hennessy, who works for The Hive, and is used to a busy all-day service at the cafe, exchanged her apron for her walking boots last Friday, to walk 13 miles from Upwey to the National Trust's Hardy Monument to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer, after her dad was diagnosed in early 2018.

"To most people, my dad is just another name, but my dad has always put everyone before himself," says Jess. She's been spurred on by her dad, who's just finished his latest round of treatment - which has made her more determined than ever to raise lots of money for the charity, Cancer Research UK.

"My dad has never been a person to just judge a book by its cover, and will always give people countless chances, even when he knows he's going to end up getting messed around in the long run.

"He always gives to people without expecting anything in return. He is the strongest, most loyal, hard-working man you'll ever meet."

And a warm Friday, five hours and 10 minutes later, Jess was met by her family at the monument before enjoying a well-earned sit-down (and a gin & tonic!).

In total she notched up nearly 25,000 steps and raised £590 + £122.50 in Gift Aid.

"I am unbelievably grateful to everyone who has sponsored and donated to my walk. I didn't realise how unfit I was until I did this! My target was £250 and have more than doubled it. Thank you to everyone who has donated."

There's still time to donate to Jess' total. If you'd like to, please go to fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org - and thank you!
