Coronavirus cases have remained stable across the Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council areas.

Public Health Dorset reports there are 46 confirmed cases in the last seven days in the Dorset Council area, compared to 46 on April 23, and 56 in the BCP Council area, compared to 52 on April 23.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 of the population in the Dorset Council area is 12.2, compared to 12.2 on April 23, and 14.2 in the BCP Council area, compared to 13.2 on April 1.

There are currently six Covid-19 patients in hospital beds in Dorset, compared to five on April 23.

A spokesman for Public Health Dorset said: "Case rates across the Dorset Council and BCP Council areas remain stable again this week. The rates for both areas are similar to the South West average and around half of the England average. The number of people in Dorset hospitals with Covid-19 has remained in single figures over the past few weeks, and we have seen very low numbers of Covid-related deaths reported in our area.

"Thank you to everyone who has played their part in keeping case rates low. The lockdown had a significant impact on bringing our cases, hospitalisations and deaths down in Dorset, but we do need to keep going to prevent a further surge locally. We have seen how the Covid-19 situation can change very quickly.

"It's important to keep following the hands, face, space measures to keep yourself and your community safe. For now, you can only meet people outside of your household outdoors. We are also encouraging all adults in Dorset to take part in rapid lateral flow testing."
