A lucky lorry driver was right by a fire station when he saw smoke coming from his tyres.

Bridport fire crews were called to the articulated lorry with its brakes on fire at 6.15pm yesterday evening (Wednesday).

A spokesman for Bridport Fire Station said: "We didn't have to go far for this one as the driver stopped outside our station after noticing smoke coming from his brakes.

"Crews used one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to cool the breaks before allowing the driver to move his vehicle off the road and into the station yard where he will be met by a mechanic."
