Weldmar Hospicecare has its own Wonder Woman in little Lily, who has raised thousands of pounds for the charity.

The 10-year-old fundraiser and support from Burton Bradstock even continued fundraising efforts throughout lockdown and the coronavirus pandemic.

Lily Tancock joined in a few of the charity's bubble rush events but then decided she wanted to plan her own event, so organised a coffee morning in 2019.

That event raised an incredible £900 and it has boomed from there.

Since then, Lily did a frosty 5k at the beginning of the year and a Wonder Woman walk during lockdown in which she raised more than £1,500.

She also sold donated books at the ed of her road during lockdown, raising £70.

Earlier this month, Lily delivered Christmas chocolates to the nurses at Weldmar's inpatient unit and read a poem at Weldmar's Light up a Life service.

Lily also has a virtual Light up a Life tree where people can add a star or light in return for a donation. This has currently raised £305 and can be found here

It is a cause close to Lily's heart after the charity helped her nanny in her final weeks.

Lily said: "It's incredible how many people have helped me fundraise for this incredible cause.

"Weldmar Hospicecare is an amazing charity, it helps so many, such as mu nanny, and they are so welcoming and kind and they deserve everything possible."

Lily's mum Kerry said: "I am so proud of Lily wanting to help others at such a young age. She has raised a lot of money and is always wanting to raise more."

Matt Smith, Weldmar's director of fundraising and marketing, said: "Everyone at Weldmar Hospicecare is so proud of Lily and so very appreciative of her continued support. She is truly part of the Weldmar family.

"Lily has raised more than £3,000 for us over the years, from organising coffee mornings, virtual walks and even setting up her own Light up a Life tree for us this year.

"But it's not just her financial support that is amazing, but also how much she genuinely cares about Weldmar, sending our nurses gifts and treats during the pandemic, putting together gift boxes for patients and being an all-round ambassador for our charity.

"We cannot than Lily and her family enough."
