Dorset Police appeal for information after motorcyclist dies in collision near Beaminster

A motorcyclist has died after a crash near Beaminster.

Dorset Police were called at 1.05pm yesterday (Sunday, October 10) to the A3066 near South Dibberford Cottage to the incident which involved a white motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s and from Exeter, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The road was closed to enable emergency services to attend the incident. Officers are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the motorcyclist who very sadly died.

"I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet spoken with police to please come forward.

"Also, I would like to hear from anyone who observed the manner of driving of the motorcycle leading up to the incident and any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

"Finally, we are aware that the road closure greatly impacted the traffic in this area and I would like to reassure motorists that this was absolutely necessary to allow emergency services to safely respond to the incident and thoroughly examine the scene."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email at [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting incident number 10:283. Alternatively, to stay 100 per cent anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or call freephone 0800 555 111.
