A new mentoring programme in Bridport for young musicians is now open for applications.

Local music charity B Sharp is launching the MusicFutures programme, a new one-year scheme for young people who are interested in a career in the music industry.

The programme is aimed at young people aged 15 plus who are thinking about a music career, and who would like to find out more about how to take the first steps, or who would like some support to start out.

They will take part in 1o monthly sessions, starting in January 2021 at Bridport Arts Centre, including talks, visits and Q&A sessions. They will also be mentored by local professional musicians – including Rob McVey, Lucy Broddle and Rob Lee – who want to support the next generation of Dorset musicians.

Ruth Cohen, B Sharp's artistic director, said: "We are inviting young people who are thinking about a career in music to apply to the programme by November 30.

"As well as learning about the music industry, and receiving support and mentoring, the young people will get to meet and play music with the other talented musicians on the programme."
