Town councillor Dave Bolwell has been invested as the new Mayor of Bridport.

Cllr Bolwell officially took office when he was given the mayoral chains at the annual mayor making ceremony at Bridport Town Hall.

He take over from Cllr Ian Bark, who has held the position throughout a dramatic three years, which has included the coronavirus pandemic, outbreak of war in Ukraine, the death of Queen Elizabeth II and coronation of a new monarch.

Among Cllr Bark's final duties as mayor were coronation celebrations over the weekend, including a proclamation in Bucky Doo Square and a civic service in St Mary's Church.

Cllr Bark said: "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dave and I am sure he will be an excellent ambassador and advocate for the town."
