Details have been announced for this year's Remembrance Sunday parade and service to remember those who lost their lives in war.

The event on Sunday 13th November, organised by Bridport Town Council, Parade Commander Brigadier John Dean, Rev Pete Stone of Bridport Team Ministry and a range of forces organisations, will commence with a parade through the town centre by representatives and veterans of HM Armed Forces, and local groups and organisations.

Accompanied by the Wessex Military Band, the parade will move off from East Street at approximately 10:40am following an inspection by the Town Mayor, Cllr Ian Bark. The Mayor will lead the Parade and will then lay a wreath as part of the ceremony and observance of the traditional two-minute silence at the War Memorial. This will be followed by the Mayor's address and the Service of Remembrance in St Mary's Church.

It is anticipated that a significant number will want to attend, and organisers are encouraging people to respect the safety of others by not attending if they have any flu or Covid symptoms.

Repeating a change to the arrangements first made in 2021, the parade will not return up South Street after the service. This is in recognition of the fact that some participants find this second parade increasingly challenging.

Town Centre road closures will be in place for the parade from 10:30am until approximately 12pm. Local residents and visitors to the town centre are asked not to park in the vicinity of St Mary's Church after 8am on the morning of Sunday 13th November. Road closures will be lifted as soon as it is safe to do so.
