Police are appealing for information following a dog bite incident near Bridport.

The incident occurred at around 1pm on Saturday 23rd July, a seven-year-old boy was walking by the harbour at West Bay with his family when he was bitten on the hand by a dog.

The black Cocker Spaniel was tied to a mobility scooter while the owner was fishing at the water's edge. Following the incident, the owner put a Baskerville muzzle on the dog.

The boy sustained a small puncture wound.

Bridport Police released a description, of a white male with a grey or white moustache wearing a navy blue T-shirt, blue shorts, blue and white trainers and a khaki-coloured cowboy-style hat.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: "I am carrying out enquiries into this incident and am keen to identify the dog and its owner.

"I would urge anyone who recognises the man from the description given to please come forward."
