Pupils at St Mary's Primary School have received a bundle of new books for their school library for World Book Day.

The donation was thanks to the Morrisons Foundation in Partnership with the National Literacy Trust.

Keira Tait, community champion from the Morrisons store in Bridport, delivered the books to St Mary's Primary School.

She said: "I'm so proud to be helping kids in my community through this donation of books. We are living through challenging times and I hope these stories will give children at St Mary's some fun and enjoyment.

"I added some extra books to the donation through our own store budget."

World Book Day, today (Thursday, March 4) is a charity event that encourages schoolchildren to dress up as their favourite fictional character and every child in full-time education is given a voucher to be spent on books.

It will be a bit different for pupils this year with schools closed to the majority of children, but if your child or school is taking part send us your photos to [email protected]
