Bridport Police are urging residents to be vigilant after two men appeared to try and steal a catalytic converter.

A spokesman for Bridport Police said: "In the early hours of this morning (Friday), we had a report of a suspicious incident in the Melplash area.

"Two males were seen hanging around a vehicle and there was a sound of an angle grinder. On inspection, the males made off towards the Mapperton area. It appears they were attempting to steal the catalytic converter from a Honda.

"Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us. If you believe a crime is in progress, please call 999."
