A mini festival held in Bridport over the summer has raised more than £1,700 for the community fridge and Parkinson's UK.

On the last day before the latest lockdown, organisers from Roped In for Bridport handed over a cheque to Bridport Community Fridge to help them support people across Bridport access to fresh food.

Roped In For Bridport was a socially distanced mini festival organised by The Ropemakers pub and Bridport Town Council, which raised £1,750 for Bridport Community Fridge and Parkinson's UK.

Geraldine Baker, Keith Hatch and Ruthy Ni Connallain presented Elizabeth Harley from the food project based at the Chapel in the Garden with a cheque for £859.

John Baker from The Ropemakers said: "It has been great to raise so much for a local good cause through a day of brilliant live music – and we are very pleased to be able to hand this cheque to Bridport Community Fridge to help them with all the brilliant work they do.

"Roped In For Bridport was fantastic and we are constantly being asked when the next event will be, and plans are already being developed for some smaller events in the new year."

Elizabeth Harley from Bridport Community Fridge said: "On behalf of all the volunteers at the Bridport Community Fridge and the Chapel in the Garden, we want to say a huge thank you to the whole team at Roped In For Bridport, it was an amazing event.

"We are going to update our storage and look into ways to develop our project even further to benefit the Bridport community."

Roped In For Bridport thanked all the volunteers, local acts and Ropemakers' favourites bringing some much needed live music to Bridport, which included Dylan Ross, Rosie Smith Magdakene and the Mystical Birds, John D Revelator, Psychadelephant, Sinful Maggie, Samantics and Skimmity Hitchers and Herbie Treehead.
