Ground mounted solar panels have been approved in the grounds of Harcombe House, in Pitmans Lane, Morcombelake.

Dorset Council has approved an application for 18 panels on three frames, each carrying six panels in the extended garden across the lane from the main house with a connection using an existing pipe 1.5metres below the surface of the road.

The planning application says the panels would only be visible from windows on the west side of the house and could not be seen from any neighbouring property or road although there would be fleeting views for walkers on a footpath which starts from Pitmans Lane.

The panels used will be adjustable to suit summer or winter conditions with 15% more energy achievable in the winter than static panels
